As the Residential Director, Jeff is responsible for the administration and development of the entire residential staff. He oversees operations, training, consultation and supervision for the Alpine’s residential component, and provides direct supervision three residential supervisors who support the teams for seven homes.
Jeff has over 28 years of experience working with children, youth and their families. His experience includes six years as a Family Teacher, six years working in intensive home-based services, and over sixteen years in training, consulting, evaluation, program development, staff development and administration. Jeff graduated with honors from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Justice Studies. He is a dedicated and extremely knowledgeable proponent of the Teaching-Family Model, and became certified five times as a Family Teacher. He is certified as a CPR/First Aid Instructor and carries multiple certifications as an instructor for different self/defense and safety techniques.
Jeff married his lovely wife Michele in 1986, and is the proud father of two sons who are both active duty in the United States Army. Jeff adores his two daughters-in-law and his granddaughter. His spare time is spent with his family and two dogs in a variety of outdoor activities including biking, skiing and hiking. He is an avid sports fan, with a passion for baseball. Jeff was able to play on both the All-American Baseball team and USA baseball team in 1980.
Jeff believes that patience is critical to the success of the youth at Alpine Academy and enjoys the sense of personal accomplishment he sees in the students succeed and are able to recognize their own achievements. “There is nothing more affirming than to see the girls internalize the skills they are leaning, realize they have control and the ability to create positive change in themselves and in those around them, and that they have the power to change the world.”
