Colby joined Alpine Academy in 2017 after working in outpatient therapy settings and in a residential treatment center for process addiction.  He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Weber State University and completed his Master’s work in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern Mississippi.  His areas of clinical interest are Systems Theory, Narrative Family Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Addiction Recovery.

Colby’s professional experiences have included work with anxiety and depression, PTSD, family dynamics, suicide ideation and self-harm, personality disorders, low self-esteem and self-worth, high risk behaviors, substance abuse, and sexual issues. In addition to the work he has done with clients, Colby has research experience in these areas: factors in teen suicide, social media, interpersonal communication, the impact of religion on relationship decisions, and clinical effectiveness.

Colby loves the principle of personal growth and lives by it. He believes that everyone naturally moves toward positive growth; however, we tend to get stuck in various circumstances of life. Colby implements this principle in his therapy by reinforcing the concepts of self-esteem and self-worth to his clients, and lets clients works toward becoming the best self they are capable of attaining.  During Colby’s free time he enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, and relaxing on the beach.
